National Mentoring Month 2025

Finding Inspiration in Every Turn

About National Mentoring Month:

Mentorship is a cornerstone of community and a relationship toward brighter futures. Launched in 2002, MENTOR and the Harvard T.H. School of Public Health created National Mentoring Month to amplify, encourage, and strengthen mentorship for young people.

From individuals to businesses to schools and everyone in between we can all work together to create more mentorship opportunities that foster passion and positivity for the next generation.

A month-long celebration, the goals of National Mentoring Month are to:

  • Raise awareness of mentoring in its various forms

  • Recruit individuals to mentor, especially in programs that have waiting lists of young people

  • Promote the rapid growth of mentoring by recruiting organizations to engage their constituents in mentoring

For over twenty years, our national leaders work with local communities to organize events in their neighborhood, partner with local media outlets and officials to spread awareness, encouraging and help adults find and participate in mentorship opportunities.

National Mentoring Month has garnered strong support from the U.S. President and members of Congress, with additional support from the Maya Angelou, Clint Eastwood, Senator John McCain, Quincy Jones, General Colin L. Powell, Cal Ripken Jr., Bill Russell and Usher. Former President Barack Obama issued a press release for National Mentoring Month in 2016, which you can read here.

Our Story

In 2016, a visionary woman named Tiffany Renee' Lewis founded the "Confident Girl Mentoring Program." Tiffany believed in the extraordinary power of confidence and mentorship to unlock the potential in every young girl. From a  small group of 20 mentees, the program grew, touching the lives of over 4,000 girls.

Since its inception, the program has achieved incredible milestones:

  • Over 4,000 girls mentored

  • 95% graduation rate

  • 98% increase in self-confidence among participants

  • Strong community involvement

National Mentoring Month holds a special place in the hearts of everyone involved in the Confident Girl Mentoring Program. It's a time to celebrate the incredible impact of mentorship, to recognize the mentors who dedicate their time and energy to uplift others, and to inspire new mentors to join the cause. National Mentoring Month serves as a reminder that mentorship is a powerful tool for change, one that can transform lives and build stronger communities.
